INTERNATIONAL PRESS

“A free press can, of course, be good or bad, but most certainly without freedom, the press will never be anything but bad.”

-Albert Camus

A country where the press, the news bearer, is not free,is the country that has not attained freedom in the true sense. It is indispensable for the world that journalists and the media work freely and the news reaches all ears. Press acts as a silent observer and keeps the people in power in check. When there is transparency and where people know about issues that wholly concern them, there is less scope for shady politics and more for freedom and justice. During our day-to-day life, emergency, war or even during revolution; the highly significant printing press and the electronic media take the news of current happenings, major decisions and consequential discussions round the world to everyone.

There is tremendous power in the ten-paged newspaper and one single photograph taken at the right moment.

It can build, it can break, it can kill, it can make.

In the United Nations, the International Press is of paramount importance. They ensure that every slip is unmissed, every mistake is brought to the limelight, every  violation of policy is reported and every moment is captured. Be it the press conference session, the daily newsletter or the clicks, the International press is an integral part of MUN conferences in more than many ways.
